Fab Find: Phil & Ted's Wriggle Wrapper

I've seen this fancy contraption in a variety of forms on the interwebs lately- one with just fabric ties and this one, Phil & Ted's Wriggle Wrapper, comes with easy to snap buckles. The idea in general seems like a good one (don't have the mom-a-thority to say so for sure) - but if you ever find yourself sans high chair and need a way to keep your tot in his spot - this looks like it will do the trick! :)

Cozy Corner

Really loving this oh-so cozy corner from Emmett's Organic Nursery - that cozy chair and ottoman complete with extra pillows looks like the perfect spot to snooze with baby! Kinda curious as to whether the chair is a rocker or not. Is a rocker a must or will a regular cushy chair work? Moms, let me know!

Small Kids Big Color = Lovely Inspirations

I think this picture speaks for itself - no words necessary for the beautiful colors, and the contrasting white furniture or the mix of vintage with modern. Love it!

Colorful Cute Child's Room

Really loving the pops of color in this fabulous little girl's room featured on Oh Dee Doh. I love how Jo, Ava's mother and blogger from Little Button Tales, has created a colorful child's room without loads of paint. Instead she uses a white background to feature lots and lots of colorful toys, decor, etc to highlight to room. Love it!

Carter Elephant Invite

What I love about the Carter Elephant Green nursery bedding is how the palette is a little outside the box for a baby boy's room - green and brown instead of the traditional shades of blue. And the elephants are too cute to boot!

Here's an idea for a matching invitation - love it!

Cool, Calm Nursery Idea

There might be a few too many chairs in this nursery, but I am lovely the color palette and calming decor. And the boat mobile was home-made! Check out how to make one yourself over at Oh-Dee-Doh!

Customized Ahoy Mate Image for Baby Shower Cake

Did you know that you can take your favorite photo to your local Marsh (or any bakery with the same technology) and have it printed onto edible paper and placed on top of a sheet cake of your choice for decoration?

Well, why not make your cake match your baby bedding and invites?! A fabulous idea!!

For the shower I am helping with I reworked the artwork I used for the invites into an image that would be able to transfer on a cake!

Like the idea? Email me for pricing and more info about how to get customized artwork for your baby shower cake! squasebarth at gmail dot com or visit my etsy shop at

Lambs & Ivy Baby Cocoa Invitation Design

Image from Babies R Us

Been noticing more and more that baby shower invitations to match your crib bedding are hard to find! I helped with this shower invitation last year for a friend's family member. Her bedding is pictured above - Lambs & Ivy Baby Cocoa - a sophisticated safari theme.

And here is the invite I designed to match the theme! She loved them!

We also designed a card for directions (available on my Etsy shop) and these two inserts for a diaper raffle and baby books.

Interested in this invitation or having an invite designed to match your crib bedding of choice? Let me know! Visit my Etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/squasebarth to see more of my work and contact information or email me at squasebarth at gmail dot com.

Vintage Modern Nursery = Love

Just when I convince myself to go more modern with the furniture - in pops a great vintage Jenny Lind nursery idea...ah, gorgeous! Love the blue, the flowers painted on th wall, the mod- bedding in contrast to the vintage crib. And the print about the crib....darling!

Warm, Modern Nursery

Having a rough time deciding if I would want to go in the more modern dresser/crib set like the one shown here or something more Jenny Lind. Hmm? Loving the way this nursery looks! Modern dresser, but not cold - the chair and wall accent really warms up the decor.

And do I see one of those little glass stools I have been drooling over by the chair??!? Oh yes I do!! I have been trying to convince my hubby I need one *for the future nursery* and he says they look dangerous and what would you use it for? Well, lookey there Bob - you can use it as little book/nightstand. Love it!

Quilt Inspiration

With the warm weather slowly making its exit - I am getting more and more in the mood to knit and sew and get crafty in general! And one of the things on my goals for 2009 is to make a quilt. So I have been pine all year long over fabric, etc - waiting for inspiration to strike.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, inspiration has struck! I saw this fabric line on the Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Jabber blog and fell in love! I am envisioning a smallish quilt in my future. :)

Need help, like me, on knowing how many charms you need for your quilt? Use this handy little page I found online!

Modern Eclectic? Oh, I like it!!

Pretty sure that "modern eclectic: is a good way to describe how our *future* nursery might end up. I love, love, love the crib - how cute and so very vintage!

And pairing vintage with modern - love it! Super in love in the little weiner dog light - he's been in more than one nursery focus and he is cute! And the little plush floor square...gotta me one of those! :)

Notable Nursery

There are so many things to love about this nursery, found on Apartment Therapy's OhDeeDoh, the bright blue and orange color palette, the vintage finds, cloud shelves (my fave!!), the vintage toys and the practical and charming cubby! A definite must have for any nursery/child's room.

The framed artwork is an amazing focal point - I love it!

Origami Favor Boats

Great idea for a nautical shower! Purchase scrapbooking paper in the patterns of your choice from your local craft store, fold according to the directions below, and fill with candy of your choice. I'm thinking blue jelly beans!!

The flags in the middle could be assembled with toothpicks, hot glue and more colored paper. Either write or print on strips of paper your guests names, the date of the shower or a phrase from your theme - such as "Ahoy It's a Boy!".

Ahoy It's a Boy! Baby Shower Invitation Design

Here's the preliminary design for the baby shower invitation based off the bedding she picked out - with fictitious info to fill it out for right now. I think we are going to change the wording at the top from "Ahoy Mate" - to "Ahoy it's a Boy!". I may play around with the size - but 5x7 is nice because you can easily find envelopes to match it.

Nifty Nautical Themed Ideas

Greens, blues, brown and white...boats, whales, palm trees...

Loving the little origami boats from this inspirational picture of a nautical themed baby shower!

Home Library Wish List: Itsy Bitsy Yoga

This book is a definite must-have for my home library once little feet start padding through the house! I love yoga and all the relaxation it brings and have never really heard of yoga for babies - yoga for dogs, yes, but babies, no. But anything that says it will help your baby sleep longer, digest better and grow stronger - not too mention bond with mommy with something she loves to do too will be marvelous!

Will probably go check it out our library first to give it a proper look through before purchasing.

Knitted Cupcake!

I love this adorable knit cupcake pattern! Though I would probably just fill in the inside with stuffing so it could be a cute child's toy instead of pin cushion!

How It All Started: A Recap

I started this blog back in 2007 as an online idea book for myself as I was planning my good friend Laura's baby shower. I used it to bookmark ideas for favors, themes, decor and more! And looking back I've realized I never really recapped how the whole thing went! (It was fabulous of course!)

Obviously it is now 2009 and the baby whose shower I threw is almost two and I am getting excited about helping plan another shower for a another friend! (yay for babies!!). I never really could stop blogging about baby stuff even after the shower was over - so I've kept at this little blog - but don't ever want to forget how it started. :)

Some history to fill you in!

And So It Has Begun

And here's a recap - almost two years later!

I had such a great time putting together this baby shower - made me want to quit my day job and start my own event planning business (almost). I love how, with an event, I can incorporate my design skills all the way down to the nitty gritty details - from the signs to the decor to the food - it was a designer's dream come true!

Here's the wee babe now! Such a ham! :)

Vintage Baby Decor

My preference for style seems to lie somewhere in between vintage and modern - of course, right?! Here's a little vintage decor perfect for the baby's room!
